arrival

a rush bursts out,
stretched across my face
a year’s pain and delight
hold it firmly in place
words tumble like children
down a soft, solemn hill
and the laughter comes quickly
until all content with their fill
the paragraphs crowd stories
and the words in between
are collections of memories
and run swiftly like dreams
the lights linger,
late into the night
cool midnight breezes,
clothe conversations tight
for what have I waited
and for what do I bring
all the days in this year
woven like love on a string
arrival.

This post was written yesterday, day SIX, but I didn’t have any electricity.
Oh, and my friend/ex-roommate Heather arrived. 🙂
